Description
The Proximity Switch is a critical component of the OrangeStorm Giga’s "one-click" leveling ecosystem. Because the Giga features a massive 800 x 800mm build area composed of four independent plates, manual leveling is impractical. This high-precision sensor allows the printer to automatically map the surface topology by collecting 100-point (10 x 10) data samples.
As a non-contact inductive sensor, it detects the metal spring steel plate through the PEI coating without ever touching the surface. This eliminates mechanical wear and ensures that the "Z-offset" (the distance between the nozzle and the bed) remains perfectly consistent across the entire gargantuan build volume, which is essential for first-layer adhesion on large-scale industrial prints.
