Description
The Gearbox Assembly is an original OEM replacement for the internal mechanics of OrangeStorm Giga's printhead. It houses a specialized dual-gear drive system that physically pulls the filament and pushes it into the hotend.
Because the Giga is designed for high-speed printing (300mm/s), the gearbox utilizes a high-reduction ratio to ensure that even at high velocities, the filament is fed with zero slippage. This assembly is critical for maintaining consistent extrusion and preventing "under-extrusion" artifacts on massive parts that may take several days to complete. It is the primary mechanical interface between the extruder motor and the filament.

Dual-Gear Direct Drive: Utilizes two interlocking gears to grip the filament from both sides, providing double the contact surface area compared to single-gear systems.
5.2:1 Reduction Ratio: Features high-torque gearing that allows the motor to drive filament with extreme force and precision, essential for the high-flow demands of large 0.6mm or 1.0mm nozzles.
Wear-Resistant Hardened Steel: The internal gears are typically manufactured from hardened steel or coated alloys to withstand the abrasive nature of carbon-fiber or wood-filled filaments.
Compact Integration: Designed to sit directly above the hotend (Proximal Extrusion), minimizing the distance the filament travels and significantly improving performance with flexible materials like TPU.
Precise Tension Adjustment: Includes a built-in spring-tensioning mechanism that allows users to fine-tune the grip strength based on the hardness of the filament being used.
