Introduction: A Celebration of Science and Regional Progress
The Bangsamoro Science and Technology Week 2025 (BSTW 2025) ran from November 12–13, 2025, held at Cotabato State University in Cotabato City. This annual event by the Ministry of Science and Technology – BARMM (MOST-BARMM) brought together innovators, students, researchers, government agencies, and technology partners across the region.
The theme “Sustaining Growth Through Halal Science, Technology, and Innovation” highlighted BARMM’s growing focus on ethical, inclusive, and community-driven technological development.

Strengthening STI in BARMM
BSTW is one of BARMM’s major platforms for promoting Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) as tools for economic resilience and peace-building.
This year, MOST-BARMM emphasized how integrating technology with moral governance can uplift local communities, support education, and build future-ready industries in the region.
A key moment during the opening program was the launch of the Technical Advisory Group on Halal (TAG-Halal) — reinforcing the government’s commitment to halal science, product development, and innovation-driven regulation.
Students’ Innova-thon: Creativity from the Young Bangsamoro
One of the highlights of BSTW 2025 was the Bangsamoro Students’ Innova-thon, where 13 junior high schools showcased inventions addressing energy, environment, daily needs, and food security.
Some standout entries included:
• Vibration to Voltage — CSU University Laboratory School
• Gravistep — ARMM Regional Science High School
• Smart Seashore Trash Collector — ND-RVM College of Cotabato
• Solar cooking systems
• Pedal-powered generators
• Bamboo-based filtration designs
The Innova-thon demonstrated that Bangsamoro youth are not only creative, but capable of building real solutions to local challenges.

Makerlab x DOST MIRDC: Bringing Advanced Prototyping to BARMM
Makerlab Electronics teamed up with DOST MIRDC to showcase the Bambu Lab 3D Printer — a machine known for precision, speed, and clean prototyping output.
Our booth showed students, teachers, and MSMEs how 3D printing can support:
• Educational laboratories
• Product design and prototyping
• Local manufacturing
• Technology-driven livelihood projects
The demonstration resonated strongly with attendees, especially those exploring ways to modernize regional industries or integrate fabrication technology into academic programs.

Building Partnerships for a Future-Ready Bangsamoro
Beyond exhibits and competitions, BSTW also held policy dialogues, research discussions, and ceremonial signings, including agreements between MOST-BARMM, DOST agencies, and partner ministries.
These collaborations aim to strengthen regional capabilities in:
• Halal research
• Science education
• Technology transfer
• MSME and startup development
Such partnerships ensure that innovations showcased during BSTW can move beyond concepts and contribute to real economic impact.
